Darby councilwoman under investigation

DARBY, Pa. - October 5, 2009 It began in late September when investigators from the Attorney General's office were notified of a loaded gun found in a rental car used by Andrew Cuff of Darby, a convicted felon.

According to investigators the gun, a 9mm Rugar semi-automatic, was registered to Councilwoman Edna Stockley of the 900 block of Forrester Avenue in Darby.

Police executed a search warrant on Cuff's garage at 110 Mulberry Street and found two shotguns, one with a magazine and scope attached. Police say they also found a number of boxes of ammunition for various types of firearms, speed loaders and holsters. Over $27,000 was seized along with narcotics and narcotic packaging materials.

In addition, investigators say they found several pieces of mail and paperwork for both Cuff and Stockley in the garage, along with photographs of the two together.

Andrew Cuff surrendered to police on Monday.

Investigators are now investigating if Stockley illegally bought the gun for Cuff, known as a "straw purchase."
