Man attacked by own dog in Kensington

A man was rushed to the hospital after being attacked by his own dog in the Kensington section of Philadelphia.It happened around 1:00 p.m. in the 600 block of East Wishart Street.

That's where, police say, the man was attacked by his pit bull.

When officers arrived, they had to shoot and kill the dog to avoid being attacked.

The man was taken to Temple University Hospital with severe lacerations to his face.

There is no indication yet as to why the dog attacked.
