Shooting, robbery in NE Philly pizzeria

NORTHEAST PHILADELPHIA - October 8, 2009

The incident happened at a pizza parlor along the 2000 block Cottman Avenue around 8:49 p.m. Thursday.

Police say a man entered the pizza shop and announced a robbery. During the robbery, the suspect got an unspecified amount of money and a necklace from a worker. The robber then shot a 52-year-old customer in the chest before fleeing on foot.

The victim was rushed to Aria Hospital Torresdale Division for treatment. He is in critical condition.

A witness described the suspect as a white male, believed to be in his early 20's, clean shaven with long hair.

He was last seen running westbound on Englewood Street from Castor Avenue and remains at large.
