ST. LOUIS - October 9, 2009 St. Louis Fire Capt. Bob Keuss says 13 people were injured,
including four adults and a child who were taken to hospitals,
after an escalator at the Scottrade Center malfunctioned around
9:30 p.m. Thursday. He said the injuries ranged from twisted ankles
to back and neck pain.
Keuss says it appears that rails on the sides of the escalator
that support its steps collapsed, causing the bottom four steps to
buckle.
The Blues said in a statement Friday they are investigating the
incident, noting that fan safety is their foremost concern.
