Pa. teen hurt on Maine hunting trip

MAYFIELD TOWNSHIP, Maine (AP) - October 13, 2009

The 17-year-old from Coatesville, Pa., was part of a hunting party of seven Monday in Mayfield Township. The family was using six beagles to find rabbits.

The Maine Warden Service says the dogs were working a thick patch of woods when they found a rabbit. The teen knelt to scan the undergrowth for the animal when his uncle, Lewis Ammon of Coatesville, fired into the woods and struck the teen, instead.

The teen was treated and released from a hospital.

Officials are investigating the incident.
