Crash kills driver on I-95 in Claymont

CLAYMONT, DELAWARE - October 15, 2009

About 11:00 on Wednesday night, the car failed to hold a curve in the southbound lanes of the highway, south of Naamans Road.

The 2002 Chevrolet Malibu then flew over a guard rail and slammed broad-side into a support beam for a highway sign.

The crash crushed the driver's side door.

The driver, identified as Edward Nott, Jr, 30, of Aston, Pennsylvania, died at the scene. He was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash.

Delaware State Police investigators closed the highway for about an hour while they tried to determine what caused the accident.

This incident remains under investigation.
