3 men, including 2 airmen, killed in crash

DOVER, Del. - October 19, 2009 A Dover Air Force Base spokesperson says Airman 1st Class Sean M. McDowell, 24, Airman Darrick A. Wright, 19, died in the crash.

Police say Jorman Reeser, 22, of Dover, was also killed.

It happened around 2:38 a.m.

Police say the Ford Mustang the men were in was travelling westbound on West North Street at a high rate of speed when it ran off the road and struck a utility pole.

All three men were ejected.

Police say it is unknown at this time if alcohol was a factor in the crash; the investigation is ongoing and pending results from the State Medical Examiners Office.

McDowell was assigned to the 436th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron as an Aircraft Electrical and Environmental Systems Apprentice.

Wright was assigned to the 436th Civil Engineer Squadron as a Pavements and Construction Equipment Apprentice.

Plans for a memorial service are not complete at this time.
