Philadelphia Park Casino holds job fair

BENSALEM, Pa. - October 20, 2009

The newly expanded, newly built casino is opening in December, but the day-long job fair to fill the new job positions that come along with it is going on today. It's attracting a lot of job applicants - a sign of the still challenging economic times.

The line outside the Bucks County Visitors Center was filled with people hoping to make a killing on one of two hundred jobs at the new Parks Casino in Bensalem.

Augustine Mulbah says, "It's very important. I've got bills to pay."

Twelve to fifteen hundred people are expected to apply for the available slots. Those hired will work in the new 260,000 square foot facility being built to replace the race track that was converted to temporarily house the Philadelphia Park Casino for three years. The expanded facility needs more food service, cleaning and valet staff.

Those passing on to round two were asked to sport their stuff in an unusual way - by dancing.

Darlene Monzo, V.P. of marking for Philadelphia Park explained what they are lo0oking for by saying, "Can they perform in front of guests? Do they have a personality? Do they have fun with it or are they a stick in the mud?"

Two hundred people are being hired Tuesday, but there will be more positions available in the future. When the law allows table gambling in Pennsylvania they will open tables at the casino, and that will mean a thousand more jobs.
