Anti-Islamic Dutch lawmaker to speak in Philly

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - October 20, 2009

Geert Wilders has been invited to speak Tuesday at Temple University. He has outraged Muslims by comparing their holy book, the Quran, to Adolf Hitler's "Mein Kampf." He also wants to end Muslim immigration in his country.

The student group Purpose, which invited Wilders, says the event is a forum for sensitive subjects. But Temple's Student Senate and Muslim Students Association have blasted the school for allowing the visit.

A statement from the university says it values freedom of expression.

British officials once banned Wilders from visiting for fear it would spark violence. He successfully sued the government and visited Friday.
