DE probes patient fall as assistant talks on phone

WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - October 22, 2009

The Delaware Division of Public Health is conducting the investigation into the fall Monday morning by the patient, who suffered a fractured skull. State officials say the certified nursing assistant has been removed from direct patient care until the probe is complete.

Officials said the worker left an 82-year-old woman alone to take a personal phone call without making sure the patient would be safe.

She was treated at Christiana Hospital and returned Monday afternoon to Governor Bacon.
