Del. School bans teacher cell phones

SELBYVILLE, Del. (AP) - October 22, 2009

Teachers' cell phones must also be on silent or vibrate. The district's school board approved the policy Tuesday and it took effect immediately.

Principals can make temporary exemptions and teachers can use cell phones during emergencies. School support staff and secretaries are also affected by the policy.

School administrators are responsible for disciplining employees who violate the policy.

Students at Indian River district schools cannot bring cell phones and other electronic communication devices onto school property.
