Del. man arrested in check cashing scheme

BRIDGEVILLE, Del. - October 26, 2009 Officials at Wilmington Trust Bank contacted police Oct. 20 about a possible kiting scam.

Through the investigation, police say 47-year-old Randy Wroten was identified as a man using two accounts at two banks to deposit checks from accounts with insufficient funds. Then police said he would withdraw the money from the bank before the check was returned for lack of funds.

Police said he deposited four checks and withdrew $26,488 through the June scheme.

He is charged with theft by false pretense. He surrendered Oct. 22 and has been released on bond.
