The deadline to enter the 80th annual World Champion Lie contest is Dec. 15.
The Burlington, Wisc. Liars' Club says they've received less than 50 entries so far.
The club usually gets about 300 liars a year for its contest.
The club president tells a local paper people must be taking life too seriously this year.
For the record, Gareth Seehawer had the best lie last year.
He says his "grandson is the most persuasive liar" he has ever met.
Seehawer adds by the time the boy was 2 years old, "he could dirty his diaper and make his mother believe someone else had done it."
