The accident happened around 2:00 a.m. on the northbound lanes of Route 42 just south of Route 55 in Deptford.
Police say it appears an SUV spun out due to the wet roads. A second SUV then collided with the side of the first SUV. Both vehicles were then struck by a tractor-trailer.
The road was closed for several hours while crews cleared the scene.
The identity of the victim killed in the crash has not been released.
