864 apprehended in NJ child support sweep

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) - December 5, 2009

Sheriffs' Association President Frank J. Provenzano said Saturday that all 21 county sheriff's offices participated in the sweep.

It's conducted twice a year in conjunction with the New Jersey Office of Child Support Services.

It targets noncustodial parents who have failed to pay their court-ordered child support or failed to appear at court hearings to establish a child support order.

Provenzano said nearly $165,000 was collected.
