60 displaced by boarding house fire

STROUDSBURG, Pa.December 6, 2009

Stroud Township Assistant Fire Chief Mike Seip says the fire at Carlton House started around 11:30 Saturday night in downtown Stroudsburg.

The fire started on the top floor of the three-story building and forced fire personnel to rescue five people from the blaze. No residents were injured but one firefighter was treated for smoke inhalation.

Seip says as many as 60 people may have been living in the building.

A state police fire marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.
