Suspect wanted for officer involved shooting

WILMINGTON, Del. - December 8, 2009 At approximately 10:15 p.m. on May 30th, a Downtown Visions employee that was monitoring the city camera's had observed several subjects standing on the southeast corner of 24th Market and it appeared as if two individuals (one being the suspect) were getting ready to fight. She then focused the camera on the parties involved when she noticed that the suspect produced a silver handgun causing the crowd to flee. She immediately notified WPD and switched the live video to their monitors, focusing the camera on the suspect.

After a few minutes, the suspect placed the weapon in his waistband and walked north on Market St then west on 25th St. She then used the camera at 24th & Tatnall and observed the suspect cross over Tatnall on 25th, again notifying Wilmington Police. With the assistance of the Downtown Vision's personnel, the suspect was eventually caught up to in the 2400 Blk of West and was subsequently shot by an officer after he pointed the gun at him.

Police say Wilkenson frequents the North Market street area of Wilmington.
