Jersey City police continue searching for possible suspects.
Jersey City Fire Department Director Armando Roman was among those first on the scene of Tuesday's attack.
Roman says he spoke to the 7-month-old, whose parents are Dominican, in Spanish to try and keep the baby conscious.
Roman says in 29 years as a firefighter he has never seen a worse sight. He had to relieve four firefighters because of trauma and call in counselors to help the department cope.
