Police say around 2:15 on Thursday morning the gunman was in a moving car when he opened fire on the 27-year-old victim as she walked along the 400 block of South 57th Street.
The shooter fired 10 bullets at the woman before the car sped off.
The woman is in stable condition at Mercy Philadelphia Hospital, sustaining one bullet wound to her left shoulder.
No word yet on the identity of the victim.
