Moms 'desperate' to hear from US hikers

MINNEAPOLIS - December 18, 2009

The three mothers appeared on NBC's "Today" show Friday, after one mother, Nora Shourd, posted a video on the Internet appealing directly to the Islamic Republic's supreme leader for the hikers' release during the holidays.

On the "Today" show, mom Cindy Hickey said the families believe the three are physically all right, but said they are concerned about the loneliness they must feel.

It's been nearly five months since the hikers were taken captive in Iran for allegedly straying across the country's border. The families haven't had any word on their condition in almost two months.
