Who killed Donte Wylie?

January 2, 2010 "He was a great person. He had this big smile that would brighten up the day."

A smile comes to Victoria Wylie's own face when she talks about her brother, Donte.

Nicknamed "Tay-lay", the 20-year-old worked selling cars and he and his girlfriend were the proud parents of a daughter named Zian.

The young family lived at 1622 South Ringgold Street in Philadelphia's Grays Ferry section.

At quarter to 6:00 a.m. on Tuesday June 17th, 2008, police say two men broke into the home.

"They went through a first floor window air conditioner, pushed it in and climbed in."

They went to the second floor bedroom where Donte and his family were sleeping.

"My brother was shot once in the bed, while he was in the bed with his daughter and girlfriend."

Donte was killed but his girlfriend and daughter were not harmed.

"It was just so confusing to me. I just couldn't believe it."

Witnesses say they saw two men wearing ski masks running from the home at the time of the shooting. Nothing in the house was taken.

There is a $5,000 reward for anyone with information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible.

"It's not going to bring my brother back and it's not going to heal any of the pain that my family has experienced but it will kind of close some doors for us."

In Donte's memory, Victoria put together a holiday toy drive for children who have lost loved ones to violence. She and her family handed out those gifts just before Christmas. Victoria hopes to turn the toy drive into an annual event. If you would like information go to riptaylay@yahoo.com.
