Teen shot in attempted robbery

NEW CASTLE, Del. - December 20, 2009 On Sunday at 1:08 p.m., County Police responded to the area of Pine Street and E. 41st Street for a report of a shooting that just occurred. When the officers arrived, they contacted the victim who was suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body. He was transported to the Christiana Hospital where he underwent emergency surgery. He is currently listed in stable condition. The investigation has revealed the victim and his 17-year-old friend were walking along Pine Street on either side of the roadway. They were walking to go sledding nearby when a green colored four door sedan passed by them. The vehicle suddenly stopped and backed up toward the victims. A black male subject exited the car and attempted to rob the victims at gunpoint. The subject then fired one gunshot striking the victim in the upper body after receiving no property from either subject. After the shooting, the suspect ran to a nearby relative's home where he collapsed. The relative then called 911.

According to witnesses, the vehicle was occupied by two white or Hispanic females who were seated in the front seat and two black males seated in the back seats.
