The shooting happened on 64th Street near Buist Avenue around 10:30 p.m. Friday.
According to police, the victim, a man in his 30s, was driving a Cadillac along 64th when an unidentified gunman opened fire striking the car multiple times on the passenger side.
The car continued to 64th Street and Garman Avenue where it crashed into at least two parked cars.
Police transported the victim to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
No arrests have been made.
The name of the victim has not been released.
