Fuel tanker crash shuts down ramp to Pa. Turnpike

BENSALEM, Pa. - January 7, 2010 At 8:15 p.m., the accident was cleared from the roadway.

The accident occurred around 12:30 in Bensalem, Bucks County.

The driver of the truck was trapped for a time, but was able to be rescued. He was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The tanker was hauling about 8,700 gallons of fuel and crews are working to repair a minor leak. There was no environment hazards according to Turnpike Troopers. Some gas escaped from the truck, but it was contained.

All exit and entry ramps from the Turnpike and Route 1 at that interchange were shut down while crews worked on the clearing up the accident.
