Man wanted in Del. slaying surrenders to police

MAGNOLIA, Del. - January 11, 2010

Delaware State Police say Charles Perry turned himself in late Friday and has been charged with first-degree murder and firearm possession in the shooting death of 21-year-old Michael Savage of Dover on Dec. 17.

Perry is being held without bail at Vaughn Correctional Center near Smyrna.

Court documents state Savage showed up at a Magnolia home, accused a resident of stealing a pound of marijuana, then assaulted him until Perry shot him in the face. Police say Savage retreated, but Perry shot him a second time in the head. Perry fled by the time police arrived and Savage was pronounced dead at Kent General Hospital.
