It happened at about 5:10 p.m. in one room of the Science Center Building on the 3400 block of Market Street.
Arriving firefighters reported seeing smoke upon arrival. It took crews nearly an hour and a half to douse the fire.
During and after the incident, the building had to be evacuated until it could be properly ventilated.
A hospital official says, an electrical equipment malfunction started fire.
