Students disciplined for black paint taunts

ROARING SPRING, Pa. (AP) - January 13, 2010 Officials with Central High School in the Spring Cove School District have not identified the students or said how they were disciplined.

The incident took place during a wrestling match Jan. 5 against rival Tyrone Area High School, which has at least one black wrestler. A Tyrone fan complained and the students were told to remove the paint or leave, and they chose to remove the paint.

Spring Cove Superintendent Rodney Green says school officials apologized to the Tyrone district.

Central High School is in Roaring Spring, about 85 miles east of Pittsburgh.
