Injuries reported in DART bus crash

WILMINGTON, Del. - January 14, 2010

It happened shortly after 1:00 p.m. on Thursday on North Market Street near the intersection of 19th Street.

Police say the DART bus was pulling into a stop when it was hit by a Toyota Corolla, driven by 25-year-old Spontaneous Gordon of Wilmington.

According to investigators, Gordon was trying to pass the bus, but scraped it with her car as she went past.

14 people on the bus claimed to be injured and were taken to area hospitals.

None of the injuries are life threatening.

Gordon was issued a summons for improper passing and driving with a suspended license.

As a result of the Dart bus accident, there was a secondary hit and run accident involving a red 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt and a black Ford Crown Victoria.

The red Cobalt operated by a 34-year-old New Castle man was stopped behind the bus and was struck in the rear by a black Ford Crown Victoria.

The male driver of the Ford continued on, leaving the scene of the accident. The 45-year-old passenger of the Cobalt complained of injuries and was transported to the Wilmington Hospital. That accident is under investigation
