No jail for star chef's ex in their NYC fight

NEW YORK (AP) - January 14, 2010

A New York judge agreed Thursday to close Erica Wang's assault case without prison time or probation if she completes the anger-management program and 10 hours of community service within a year.

Police say Wang gave English a black eye during an argument Sept. 14. He needed seven stitches.

Wang's lawyer said she's "pleased but not surprised" at the court outcome. Representatives for English had no immediate comment.

English owns the Olives chain and has appeared on Bravo's "Top Chef." He called off the couple's Oct. 3 wedding shortly before the confrontation.
