Feds question suspicious airplane passenger

TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. (AP) - January 15, 2010

Traverse City Police Capt. Steve Morgan says the passenger went into the bathroom "carrying an article" and left the bathroom without it on United Airlines Flight 6036 from Chicago Friday.

He says flight crew also reported a panel in the bathroom had been disturbed. Morgan says authorities came to the airport and detained the passenger.

A government official said earlier that the passenger made a bomb threat, but Morgan says there was no bomb threat. He says a bomb sniffing dog was called in to sweep the aircraft and luggage and nothing was found.

Morgan says the passenger was being interviewed but had not been arrested.
