Saving money on food

These are also compliments of ShopSmart magazine.

Check out Epicurious.com.

It has a weeknight menu planner called "Dinner Rush." It features meals with just a few inexpensive, seasonal main ingredients and, here's the cool part, it automatically plans for what you should do with leftovers.

So for instance, if you have a whole chicken, one night you can make chicken thighs with Creole mustard orange sauce and later in the week, you have chicken stir fry.

Eatingwell.com has a section for healthy, but delicious entrees for under $3 per serving.

Eating Well also provides printable coupons for foods that are good for you.

And finally, take a look at RecipeCentral.com, it's run by food experts at the University of Nebraska.

It has all kinds of money saving information including ingredient substitution charts so you don't have to buy pricey foods. It also has storage tips so things last longer as well as cooking or preservation tips for items you buy or grow in bulk.
