Officers were called to Christiana Hospital on Sunday for a report of man seeking treatment for a gunshot wound to the head.
Police say the man was conscious and speaking with investigators before he went into surgery for a fractured skull and bullet fragments in his brain, but he did not cooperate. His condition is currently listed as stable.
Initially, the man refused to give his name or any information pertaining to the events that led to the shooting. Police say other witnesses were uncooperative and gave inconsistent details about the shooting.
However, after searching several areas, police believe they found the location of the assault in the Sparrow Run area near Newark.
