The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers says the closure begins Tuesday. The bridge carries U.S. 13 over the Chesapeake & Delaware Canal. Repair work on the bridge will continue for about nine months, first on the southbound lanes, then on the northbound.
Southbound traffic will be detoured via Del. 72 to Del. 1 and the Roth Bridge over the canal.
