Agents raid gun shop in St. Lawrence

ST. LAWRENCE, Pa. - January 20, 2010

The Feds said nothing to our Action News cameras.

ATF agents spent the day carting off thousands of guns and loading them onto a fleet of moving vans.

The county sheriff revoked the Gun Gallery's state permit after a police standoff at the owner's home during a domestic disturbance two weeks ago.

Jay Fisher was arrested at the time, and his wife, Taryn was arrested two days later for allegedly kidnapping and threatening to kill a former employee.

The shop's lawyer John Fielding says they don't know why the feds have raided the place since the warrant is sealed.

"The Feds seem to go by the old adage it's better to ask for forgiveness than for permission, so in the meantime, this lady, whose only means of livelihood is this store, is having all of her inventory carted off by the ATF to be returned at some future time, we know not when," Fielding said.

Fielding says Jay Fisher has been off his meds and acting erratically which sparked the standoff at his home.

He says Taryn Fisher is being falsely accused by a drug addict.

The shop has been on ATF''s radar since 2005, allegedly for selling guns to straw purchasers.

At least 24 of them have been used to commit crimes in New York City.

That prompted Mayor Bloomberg to file a lawsuit which was settled in 2008.

Some neighboring shop owners who don't want to be identified say they're glad be rid of the gun shop, calling it a nuisance. The owners' lawyer says he's going to federal court to file an appeal.
