NJ ex-coach's sex talk case goes to jury

FREEHOLD, N.J. (AP) - January 21, 2010

Jurors got the case Thursday morning and deliberated for about 4½ hours before being released for the day.

They will determine the fate of Bartholomew McInerney, who testified he encouraged players at St. Rose High School in Belmar to masturbate and offered them money to send him text messages when they did.

Monmouth County prosecutors say that constituted sexual misconduct, but McInerney testified it wasn't for sexual gratification. He claimed it was an unconventional way to discourage his players from having sex with their girlfriends.
