Prosecutors say then 19-year-old David Nam killed a World War II veteran during a 1996 home-invasion robbery.
The FBI found him teaching in South Korea in 2008. He was brought back to the United States under a 1999 extradition treaty that moved through Congress with his case in mind.
Prosecutors say Nam's businessman father lost the $100,000 cash he had posted toward his son's $1 million bail - and still owes the rest. He is also believed to be in South Korea.
Three juvenile accomplices pleaded guilty to third-degree murder early on. They are set to testify against the 32-year-old Nam.
