Fake horse head leads to charge against NJ man

WEST DEPTFORD, N.J. - January 26, 2010

A 61-year-old southern New Jersey man is accused of delivering a fake horse head in a box to the West Deptford office of state Senate President Steve Sweeney.

Robert Godman is held on $25,000 bail, charged with fourth-degree harassment.

The 1972 film "The Godfather" featured a scene in which a horse head was left in a movie mogul's bed.

Investigators don't know what the motive was.

Sweeney aide Michelle Coryell says a man gave the package to a staff member on Jan. 15 and said it was for Sweeney to give to outgoing Gov. Jon Corzine.

State Police say Godman was arrested at the Wenonah home he shares with his parents. He'll undergo a psychiatric evaluation.
