Police were called to 24th and North Market streets around 9:07 p.m. for a report of gunfire.
Once there, they found a 21-year-old man on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound to the head.
The man, who has not yet been identified, was taken to Christiana Hospital in critical condition.
Police say there may be two suspects on the loose.
