NJ governor vetoes DRBA's 2010 budget

TRENTON, N.J. - February 3, 2010

On Tuesday Christie vetoed the DRBA's 2010 budget because it contained a 3 percent increase in spending over 2009. The authority's 2009 budget was $76.2 million, a 1.8 percent increase over 2008.

Christie also rejected $25,000 in expenditures to 98 unspecified vendors that were approved for use throughout the year. In his veto letter to the bistate agency's board, Christie said he wants more information to justify "the amount and nature" of the contracts.

The DRBA is a partnership between Delaware and New Jersey that operates the Delaware Memorial Bridge, the Cape May-Lewes Ferry, five airports and a New Jersey business park.
