Search for lawyer's killer stretches to year 2

NORTHAMPTON TWP, Pa. - February 3, 2010

"It's been a tough year and I think about Eric every day. It's hard. I miss him," said Terry Goldberg, friend of the victim Eric Birnbaum.

Birnbaum was shot once in the head. The shooter has eluded police, leaving a troubling void for friends and family.

It was an unseasonably warm morning on February 11, 2009. Birnbaum had just gotten out of his car outside the Goldberg and Associates law office where he worked.

He was talking to a co-worker when a white man, about 25 to 40 years of age wearing a knit cap and sunglasses, walked up from behind him and shot him once in the back of the head.

The case has been puzzling for investigators. Friends say Birnbaum didn't have an enemy in the world. They said he was devoted to his family and truly a selfless man. Investigators are hoping for a tip that will crack the case.

"We are not leaving," said David Zellis a deputy district attorney. "We are going to solve this case one way or another."

There is currently a $20,000 reward. You can call with information to the Citizens Crime Commission 215-546-TIPS.
