Man arrested after fatal stabbing in Wilmington

WILMINGTON, Del. - February 4, 2010

Police were called to the 200 block of north Broom Street around 11:30 Wednesday night. Upon their arrival, they found 52-year-old James Kalil on the front porch armed with a knife and having suffered a minor wound to his left hand.

Police took Kalil into custody without incident and then ventured into the home where they found a second man, unconscious on the first floor. The unnamed 46-year-old victim was transported to Christiana Hospital where he later died.

According to investigators, the two men were involved in an argument when Kalil was allegedly wounded by the second man - possibly with a knife. Kalil then attacked the other man in a third floor bedroom, stabbing him multiple times.

Police say the victim made his way to the first floor where he collapsed and was ultimately found by police.

Kalil was treated at Wilmington Hospital and released into police custody. He faces first-degree murder charges among other charges.
