Blizzard warning issued for Delaware

WILMINGTON, Del. - February 10, 2010

The National Weather Service expects blizzard conditions at times from midday Wednesday through the afternoon with heavy snow decreasing visibility and strong winds gusting 40 to 50 mph. Winds will remain strong into the evening blowing snow and reducing visibility.

Gov. Jack Markell has declared a state of emergency allowing only emergency vehicles and those considered to be essential personnel on the roads until further notice. State offices are closed Wednesday and schools that have been closed since the last storm remain closed.

The National Weather Service reports an unofficial measurement of seven inches of snow in Wilmington Manor around 1 a.m. Wednesday.
