Phila.-area interstates reopen after snow

PHILADELPHIA - February 11, 2010

Gov. Ed Rendell ordered Interstates 76, 476 and 676 reopened in Philadelphia and its suburbs at 5 a.m. Thursday. Interstate 176 between Reading and Morgantown also reopened.

Interstate 78 is still closed in both directions as PennDOT tries to clear drifting snow. Department of Transportation spokesman Sean Brown says emergency vehicles were able to clear pathways and pull out stuck vehicles by midnight.

Interstates 81 and 83 reopened earlier although some speed restrictions remain in effect.

Thousands of customers are without power, including many in southwestern Pennsylvania that first lost service because of the weekend storm.
