Pa. digging out after historic winter storm

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - February 12, 2010

Students in Philadelphia's public and parochial schools are off for a third straight day as officials decided to close down Friday. Neighborhood streets are still slippery or completely snow-covered after back-to-back storms dropped more than 40 inches of snow on the city.

Students were out again in Pittsburgh with the city schools already deciding to delay Monday's opening by two hours.

Allegheny Energy in southwestern Pennsylvania and PECO in the southeast each reported about 14,000 customers without power Friday morning.

Somerset County officials say a woman whose body was found in a car in Windber on Sunday died of carbon monoxide poisoning. The storms claimed at least six other lives.
