Gang severely beats teen on Philadelphia subway

NORTH PHILADELPHIA - February 14, 2010

Action News was at SEPTA's Fern Rock station where police held the train as a crime scene.

Police tell Action News that the group got on the train at Broad and Girard after leaving an underage nightclub where an argument apparently started. The argument escalated on the train and police say the teens began beating the 14-year-old with a stick and punching him.

The gang fled the train after it stopped at Broad and Lehigh.

The 14-year-old was transferred to St. Christopher's Hospital. He's now in fair condition.

Police took 16 teens into custody for questioning, but so far no one has been charged.
