Cleanup underway after Del. school roof collapse

SEAFORD, Del. - February 16, 2010

The roof at West Seaford Elementary School collapsed under the weight of snow back on Wednesday.

Damage is estimated at several million dollars.

Besides the cafeteria, a classroom and a special education office were also damaged.

A school district spokesperson says the hallway leading to the damaged area is being sealed off and a prefabricated wall is being erected to weatherize the rest of the building.

When students return, food will be prepared off site and transported to the school in heat carts for students to have lunch in the gym.

The Seaford School District, Lake Forest School District and Milford School District were still closed on Tuesday because buses are still not able to travel on some routes to pick up students.
