Police: Boyfriend sets girlfriend on fire

WEST PHILADELPHIA - February 20, 2010

Police tell Action News that an argument broke out between a 28-year-old female and her boyfriend inside her apartment located in the 4700 block of Walnut Street.

During the argument, the boyfriend poured alcohol on his girlfriend and lit her on fire before fleeing the apartment building.

Neighbors, responding to the screaming, called police and doused the fire with an extinguisher before firefighters arrived.

Police transported the female to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania where she was stabilized and then transported to Temple Hospital Burn Center with third degree burns over 28-percent of her body. She is listed in critical condition.

Police are questioning the boyfriend. So far, no charges have been issued.
