The victims were 26-year-old Erin Giles and 25-year-old Maren Johansen, both of Wilmington. They died at the scene of the accident early Saturday after their car burst into flames.
Police say a 17-year-old driving a Ford Mustang sideswiped a Toyota and then crashed into a Buick Century driven by Giles. She and Johansen were trapped inside as the car burned.
The teen driver suffered a broken leg. The accident remains under investigation, and no charges have been filed.
