Escaped prisoner convicted on burglary charges

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - February 23, 2010

Thirty-eight-year-old Scott Hornick was convicted Monday in Philadelphia of running a gang that burglarized more than 150 businesses including camera stores, music stores and pharmacies from Massachusetts to South Carolina.

Prosecutors say Hornick and his gang would enter businesses after hours and load up stolen or rented vehicles with merchandise they'd bring to suburban Philadelphia to sell.

Hornick, who was once profiled on "America's Most Wanted," escaped from the Warren County Correctional Center in northern New Jersey on Aug. 6, 2001. He was arrested in July 2007 in Delaware.

Sentencing is scheduled for May 14.
