It soon will be python-hunting season in South Florida.

State wildlife officials say anyone with a hunting license and a $26 permit can go after the big snakes starting March 8.

Python season will run through April 17.

Wildlife experts worry the nonnative snakes are upsetting the natural balance of the Everglades.

Many of the pythons are either escaped pets, or had been intentionally released by their owners.
